To investigate the development process of overwintering eggs of Apolygus lucorum and determine the critical period for their control, we observed the development process of overwintering eggs dipped in water using a microscope, and measured the length, width and egg cover length of these eggs. The results showed that the eye spot appeared on the 4th day after overwintering eggs dipping in water. On the 5th day, 85.00% of the eggs had eye spot. The hatching rate of eggs reached 87.50% on the 7th day. The eggs continued to grow during its development, and the eggs width reached the maximum on the 3rd day after eggs dipping in water, both the eggs length and egg cover length peaked before the eggs hatching with the values of 1 473.96 μm and 605.89 μm, respectively. In conclusion, the eggs size of Apolygus lucorum changed constantly during its development, and the critical period for their control was 2nd to 3rd day after the appearance of the eye spot. |
