Viral diseases are important diseases threatening sweet potato production in China. The most effective measure for controlling viral diseases and improving the yield of sweet potato is planting virus-free sweet potato seeds (cuttings or storage roots). In recent years, the occurrence of sweet potato viruses and their transmission vectors has exhibited new features in China. Traditional virus-free seed breeding system cannot meet the needs of the current sweet potato production. The species and harm status of sweet potato viruses in China were reviewed, and the problems in the breeding of virus-free sweet potato seeds in China were analyzed. The suggestions for standardizing and improving the breeding system of virus-free sweet potato seeds in China were offered. |
