| Fungal endophyte is a kind of symbiotic fungi colonizing inside plant stems and leaves. Endophyte has been a research focus only in recent years in the areas of plant pathology, microbiology and ecology, though it was firstly reported in Graminaceae (L.) leaves by Lewis in 1924. The studies showed endophyte could cause physiochemical changes in host plant and induce resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. This paper summarized the research status and progress on fungal endophyte as a biological factor to control plant disease, insect pest and abiotic stress. The potential effects of endothyte as a bio-control factor were also discussed. |
